Ameriprise Financial, Inc. is a holding company, which engages in providing financial planning, asset management, and insurance services to individuals, businesses, and institutions. It operates through the following business segments: Advice & Wealth Management, Asset Management, Retirement & Protection Solutions, and Corporate & Other. The Advice & Wealth Management segment consists of financial planning and advice, as well as full-service brokerage services for retail clients through financial advisors. The Asset Management segment offers investment management, advice, and products to retail, high net worth, and institutional clients through Columbia Threadneedle. The Retirement & Protection Solutions segment refers to RiverSource solutions, which includes clients annuities, life insurance, and disability income insurance products.
