Its Electric division is responsible for generating, acquiring, delivering, and selling electricity to approximately 2.3 million customers—including households, businesses, and industrial clients—across southeastern Michigan. This power is sourced from diverse facilities, encompassing fossil fuel, pumped-storage hydroelectric, nuclear, wind, and other renewable energy assets. Its extensive network features approximately 20,000 miles of distribution mains, 1,304,000 service pipelines, 1,305,000 active meters, and about 2,000 miles of transmission pipelines. Through its Power and Industrial Projects segment, DTE Energy supplies metallurgical coke, along with pulverized coal and petroleum coke, to the steel, pulp and paper, and other industrial sectors. This segment also delivers essential services such as power, steam, and chilled water production, wastewater treatment, and compressed air to various industrial clients.
